Confession for April 1st

God of life, in you, death has no power. Because of you, this life is not our final end. Thank you.

It feels good to celebrate new life, yours and ours. With the coming of spring we long to throw off the heaviness of winter and bask in the sun. We confess that, just as some folks would like to skip winter, there are times when we want to skip the whole crucifixion story and jump straight to the resurrection.

And yet there are other times when death feels more real than life. When we see an empty tomb, it is easy to despair, and it seems futile to hope. We hear stories of people who claim to have seen you alive; we want to believe, but struggle. Forgive us for not recognizing you, for doubting our fellow believers, and for holding ourselves back from living into your promise of new life

Steinbach Mennonite Church is faithfully following Christ in worship and service by making disciples, building community and reaching out to the world.

Welcome Visitors

Thank you for worshipping with us this morning! We welcome you and are glad that you are here. Please take a moment to stop by our Welcome Centre where you will find more information about our church.

MC Manitoba Update

The post MCM Gathering Board meeting

The post Gathering version of the MCM Board had their first meeting on Monday, March 19. The main focus of the meeting was to orient new board members (Gerald Gerbrandt, Bethel Mennonite and James Friesen, Pembina Mennonite Fellowship) and to get to know each other better. The mood of this meeting was very positive with everyone looking forward to how this newly minted structure will serve our congregations in sharing the Good News of Jesus. We have begun to imagine how MCM Gatherings might be adapted to better contribute to nurturing healthy congregations.

We also are looking for ways to best service the seven priorities that we discussed at our Gathering. (Find these priorities on page 7 in this document package.) The MCM Board continues to ask for prayer for the work ahead. Please pray for wisdom, courage, and joy. The nominating committee continues to look for one representative from the Winnipeg cluster.

Mennonite Women Event

For the third year in a row the Mennonite Women Manitoba working group will be offering a Day for Women. Our last two Spring Days, Sister Care (2016) and Women Encountering Jesus (2017) were well attended and received.

This year we are thrilled that Dr. Moira Somers Ph.D Neuropsychologist, will be working with the topic of resilience. Dr. Somers is part of the Charleswood MC.  Our day is entitled: Resilience Road: Struggle, Steps and Strategies and I encourage all of us to pass the work around and encourage the women within our congregations and communities to take advantage of this opportunity. A poster was sent to congregations last week and half- page information sheets for copying are being sent this week.
