Parable of the Treasure, Pearl and Net

August 12th, 2018 – 10:45 a.m.

Focus Statement: The Kingdom of Heaven is described by Jesus in many exciting and yet conflicting ways. In today’s parables we see God’s Kingdom as both something that is attractive yet also divisive. For the most part we like to think of the attractive part as happening “now” and the divisive part as happening “then” or not at all. What changes for the disciples listening to these parables, both now and then, when we recognize that attraction and division are always a part of living in the Kingdom of Heaven?
